My boss schedule a meeting in his office with several people. I arrived first and walked right into his office at sat down. He said that I should knock before entering. I was a bit surprise being that it was a schedule meeting. What is the proper etiquette? I usually knock when I interrupt someone or its an emergency.

What is proper etiquette for splitting gasoline costs? My friend does not drive; she takes the bus everywhere. However, I usually pick her up and drop her off from our weekly exercise classes (a few miles out of my way – in addition to more traffic). She’s now come to expect this. Is it right for me to ask her to split gasoline costs? We are both mature adults, how do I ask her politely?
